"Five reasons why you should come to this Behaviour Management Workshop"

1.  You are a good parent and some behaviours are pushing your button.

2.  You and your partner have difficulity approaches to parenting and you want a united approach.

3.  You have tried what you know and it's not working.

4.  What you are doing may be working, yet it doesn't feel right and you want a better way.

5.  You feel alone in your parenting and want to meet others.

We take a look at:

  • Where did my parenting come from?
  • You're values and how they effect your parenting.
  • Teachable Moments and simple ways to set your kids up for success.
  • What sort of person do you want your children to become?  This gives you the guidelines as to whats really important and where to focus now, while they are young.
  • Examine the language parents use and the way you phrase things and how other ways can be more helpful.
  • Role Modelling.
  • Reflection, Support and Solutions.

We will give you some solutions and teach you a process to solve everyday parenting issues that may arise outside these solutions!

Testimonials from previous attendants:

"My husband and I recently attended the Behaviour Management Course in Te Puke run by Alison from Tickles.  As with anything, you can extract what you like and incorporate it into your daily routine - you don’t have to completely try and change your whole style of parenting!

One of the simple things we took from this course was to change the style of words we use with our children.  This has worked particularly well with our 7 year old who we seemed to be constantly battling with.  Initially we would say things like “NO you can’t play Xbox until you have done your homework”.  He would instantly get defensive and answer back, as all he was hearing was the “NO you can’t play Xbox”.  Now we say “YES you can play Xbox as soon as you have finished your homework”.  He is hearing the “YES you can play Xbox” and is much happier to do his homework!

Another word we are trying to eliminate is “BUT”.  For example – “That was good BUT you need to slow down (when playing the piano)”.   Now we say “That was good AND if you slow down a little it will be perfect”.

Seeing how he is reacting positively to these subtle changes is awesome.  I would recommend to all parents to attend a course every now and then.

Sometimes we get so busy in life that it can just be the simple things that can make a big difference.  Other Tickles Team Members also attended this course which I think is great – what they are implementing in the Centre, we can carry on in the home and this provides consistency for our children."     ( Nadine & Craig Morrison - Te Puke)

"I enjoyed everyone working together and immediately I can use the behaviour solution finding process!"  (Claire Parere - Te Puke)

"Thanks for giving me new tools/tips for dealing with behaviours in a positive-teaching moment way!"  (Tracey Mallowes - Te Puke)

“I am presently doing a 12 week Parenting course and yet I still managed to pick up about 3 useful skills, like the “Use of language”  instead of saying DON’T or NO all the time, talk about the positive behavior I want.  I put this into practice as soon as I went home and my 7 year old boy mirrored my positive language.  I learned they become what we focus on, praise and positive language creates positive children (thus creating a positive adult) Thanking you!" (Tania Leitch-Heggie, Papamoa)

"My fiancé and I recently attended this Behaviour Management course which identified common behaviours in parenting, such as “bad language” instead of using “NO” use “STOP”.  Role modeling positive communication around children imitates “Positive language”.  We also learnt to look at the bigger picture on what could be causing this behaviour such as weather, developmental or media”.  Taking this into account it was a lot easier to deal with the behaviour.  Overall we learnt that being consistent and the use of positive language sets children up to be successful.  Excellent, thanks."
