Alison Clarks Own Story
Hi everybody,
I hope you are having a most fabulous day with all your goals and dreams one day closer to becoming a reality.
I also hope you are enjoying the fruits of your labour right now too.
Now this section is supposed to be all about me and I could reel off my credentials and experience like...
- Holding 2 Diplomas of Teaching (Early childhood and primary).
- Toastmasters Advanced speakers bronze award.
- Awarded the Action International Business Coaches award for 'Best Team Development' 2004 and 'Entrepreneur of the year' 2005.
- 18 years as a business owner
- Currently have 4 businesses and an expanding property portfolio
- I am a single parent of 2 boys 13 and 15
And that might be helpful to you.
What may be even more helpful to you is my before and after story.
Before:
- Earning less than the lowest paid employee in my business (when I could get paid)
- Working 60+ hours a week
- Struggling to pay the bills and keep my business above water
- Trying to be there for my young children as a single parent
- Totally working in my business
- I had a bunch of staff (and that's what i called them then ) who only seemed to do the bare minimum.
- I felt like I had to think for everyone and do for everyone else as well as try and do my job.
- You'd hear me continually saying 'you can't get good staff these days' and 'in our industry good people are like hen's teeth' and 'no one thinks for themselves any more'
- I used to dread the mornings and was always tired and unhappy. My children often got a raw deal with my time and energy.
Then.. I got help. I started to go to seminars and read books and get coaching. I drank in every bit of information available and invested heavily in my own education. I put what I learned into action and the 'after' story become a reality.
After...
- I am living my dream of having an amazing Team that runs the business better than I do.
- I have a Team who go in to work after hours to work on a project to make the business work better. I only find out by accident when I happen to pop in at that time. And they haven't asked for payment. They are doing it because they are passionate about 'their' business's success.
- The Team run the business and take responsibility for it's success. I can then fulfil my role as their coach and mentor.
- The business is well resourced and making a profit
- There is a significant amount of money available in the business for Team training so they can develop personally and professionally.
- The individuals in the Team have passion and desire to be business owners/managers some day and I'll help them achieve that.
- I have choices on how I spend my time
- I have balance in my life and am fit and healthy
- Work is FUN and I love every minute of it
- I love seeing my Team members grow and discover the great qualities they have
"Do I still make mistakes?" Sure.
"Do I always learn something?" Definitely.
"Do I still have challenges?" Sure
"Do I always find solutions?" Definitely
"Do I sometimes slip into old unhelpful habits?" Sure
"Do I always come back to the higher standard I have set for myself?" Definitely
"Do I have bad days?" Sure
"Do I have a 'bad' day that are 10 times better than most people's best day?" Definitely
Now...
I have a most fantastic life full of excitment and growth. I have or am getting all I desire in my life. I get to do what I am passionate about and that is teaching and coaching. I have financial freedom to do what I choose when to do it.
I believe we all have an afffect on people and I want my effect to be positive, that people's lives have been enriched by having known me.
I believe we design the life we have through our thinking and the decisions we make. People are as happy (energetic, successful etc) as they make their minds up to be.
Sure 'bad' things happen to people-it's what we do with it that makes the difference.
There is always more to learn and another level of thinking to reach. There are also all the teachers you need, when you need them if you are open.
So..
Have an awesome day. Enjoy the moment, dream the future and make it happen.
